Canadian 80s

This is the ULTIMATE tribute to Canadian music of the 80’s. Prepare yourself for a uniquely Canadian take on New Wave, New Romantics, post-punk, indie, synthpop / electropop, experimental, FM radio rock and pop – it’s all here! I think you’ll agree that many of these bands deserved more exposure and success. In my opinion, several of them were every bit as good as – if not better than – the British bands that influenced them; and they were certainly more interesting than a lot of American music of that period. Even the Holy Triad of Canadian music – Cohen, Young and Mitchell – (just think of all the music they’ve influenced – the mind reels) adopted an 80’s sound at some point in their careers. Believe it or not, Neil Young – previously inspired by Devo – said in an interview he was a fan of Human League and Flock of Seagulls; he then went on to employ a vocoder on most of the tracks on Trans, one of which is included here.

I hope you enjoy this compilation as much as I have enjoyed putting it together.

Yours Truly,

Cameron
