I bought this on vinyl back in the 80’s and it’s been a favourite ever since. Very melodic, soaring, fantastic lyrics, evocative of an England which has all but disappeared.
This is an underrated classic.

UPDATE:
Check out the exceptional return of The Wild Swans.
Title track is a brilliant tribute to Bunnymen drummer Pete de Freitas. The spoken word track details the early 80’s Liverpool scene, which seemed to revolve around the house Wild Swans lead singer Paul Simpson shared with all the key figures. Even Pete Burns was a flat mate there.
I’m a big fan of E.B. early work which is more edgy. But this really resembles some of great Smiths work – evokes some nice memories 🙂
