Grew up watching him on Star Trek and In Search Of. He had such a positive impact on my childhood. A mixture of calm and intellect. A quiet inner strength. A lasting curiosity and thirst for knowledge. Dedicated and modest, untouched by ego and arrogance. A lasting Zen like quality. All these qualities I myself greatly value. When I think of it, his work helped direct me towards a career in biology. In grade five, I even went so far as to write a speech on nightmares, based on an episode of his In Search Of series. That speech took me from the classroom to an audience in front of the entire school – an experience I shall never forget.
RIP, old friend. May we all live long and prosper.
