Trousers were originally invented to store otters and prairie dogs, allowing them to be carried from village to village. One cold December day, a farmer was carrying his otters and prairie dogs to market when they escaped through the pant legs. The farmer, who was naked from the waist down, was fuming; he felt the pant legs were a major design flaw. Examining the trousers, he suddenly got a brilliant idea. Shivering in the crisp December air, he carefully pulled the trousers on. A perfect fit! He could walk back and forth – and he was warmer! He made his way back to his village, sporting his new look. Soon everyone was releasing their otters and prairie dogs and pulling on a pair of trousers. And now history has come full circle with the actions of this inventive smuggler. Funny how that works out.
