A UK government minister has apologised for giving a watch to the mayor of Taiwan’s capital city, Taipei, without realising such gifts are taboo. In Canada, we have a variation on this superstition.

If you are given a watch and it has “Made in China” on the back of it, then the watch will not live much longer.
