Today, I shocked my students during a trip to the Science Museum. They asked excitedly: ‘Sir, what are we doing next?’ I replied: ‘We’re going to search the building for the three students I lost last year.’ Later, a head count revealed that one student was (temporarily) missing. I turned to a year 7 student and said: ‘Well, I’ve only lost one. That’s an improvement on last year!’ His response: ‘Actually, Sir, technically you aren’t supposed to lose any of us.’ So much for my humour – but I like his thinking.
